Current Role:

Corporate Clinical Quality Safety Leader (2015-present):

  • Work closely with program and department leaders at all levels to facilitate quality improvement initiatives utilizing best practice guidelines, standards, and required organizational practices that align directly with organizational vision, mission and values

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the organization’s participation in Accreditation Canada including all activities required pre, during, post, and between surveys. Act as a resource to all colleagues. Track status and report on ongoing compliance with standards and required organizational practices. Coordinate Tracer Team functions and activities

  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure standardized and consistent approach to patient safety incident reviews and failure mode effects analysis related to quality improvements.

  • Provide the corporation with guidance on legislative requirements related to quality and safety, including publicly reported indicators, Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), and structures for compliance with Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) and Public Hospitals Act (PHA)

Previous Roles:

Patient Care Specialist: Emergency Department (2013-2015)

  • Supported professional growth and development of nursing and clerical staff

  • Worked in collaboration with Human Resources and Labour Relations in escalation of performance issues as required

  • Developed and applied a strong working knowledge of RNAO Best Practice Guidelines and professional standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Regulated Health Professionals Act

  • Facilitated patient flow within the Emergency Department and corporation, mitigating barriers to discharge by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team

Clinical Supervisor Emergency Department (2012-2013):

  • Provided in the moment, just in time conflict resolution

  • Provided coaching and education to staff in a supportive role

  • Key member of process improvement change projects using LEAN methodology.

  • Responsible for scheduling, daily assignments, equipment and supplies, and bed flow coordination evenings and weekends as a supportive member of the leadership team

Registered Nurse bedside nursing experience (1997-2012):

  • Provided bedside nursing care of patients in a variety of acute care settings in hospitals across North America as a fulltime staff nurse as and a travel nurse. Areas of practice include Emergency, Critical Care, and Medical-Surgical.

  • In every employment, demonstrated leadership as charge nurse, participant in unit-based research, and as a mentor/preceptor for new graduate nurses.
